Skepticum is a continuation of altair4redux.blogspot.com.
When I started my rambling blog I picked the Altair 4 name in reference to Stephen King’s Tommyknockers. In the book Altair4 is described as a planet that functions as the “attic” of the tommyknockers, a storage place for all inanimate things. I needed a storage place for the varied ideas and comments that I was sharing with others in the blogosphere. Due to the unusual nature of some of the topics discussed, Altair4 seemed a good name for this storage space of ideas.
Since then my blog became more focused, with more posts on science and technology and occasional posts on comedy. As most comedians find their source of inspiration in the daily absurd, my skepticism topics and comedy seem to go hand in hand well.
Outside my occupation as a blog writer, I am a web marketing professional living in Chicago, da city itself. My hobbies are volleyball, winter sports, beach vacations, and laughs.
Also, I am very proud of my gaming system which I personally built (2nd edition, March 2007). I’m running an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800, on an ABIT KN8 Ultra mobo, Thermaltake CL-P0257 Blue orb, 2X250gig Samsung Spinpoint 250 Raid 0+1, A-Data 2048MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz (1024×2), XFX GeForce 8800GTS, Antec Truepower Trio 650W, OS XP sp2 +cd/dvd read/write accouterments.
