It depends on who’s giving out the cash. If it’s from my grandma who’s 90 and, understandably, will have such a difficult time shopping for gifts, then it’s perfectly fine. But if the cash is from some uncle who is just too lazy to spend time scouting for gifts, then I’d think twice about accepting.

I don’t find anything wrong about giving cash as gifts. As long as the amount is appropriate. i mean, I think it’s bad taste to give a 45-year-old man $10 for Christmas, but it may me alright for a 5-year-old kid.
